Franciacorta is Italy's most serious traditional-method sparkling zone, and Satèn is its own invention — a blanc de blancs bottled at lower pressure than standard Franciacorta, around five atmospheres instead of six, which gives a notably softer, silkier mousse. The name means silk. All Chardonnay, with green apple and white peach over brioche, almond and a chalky, saline finish. Medium-bodied, dry, and creamier in texture than Champagne of comparable age without losing the acid line.
