Stregato dalla Luna

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, low tannin, high acidity, dry

Vermentino from the Colli di Luni, the hills where Liguria meets Tuscany and the variety makes one of its finest Italian expressions. The sea is close enough to matter: lemon and green apple with white flowers, a distinctly saline, briny finish and the bitter-almond twist Vermentino leaves almost everywhere. Medium-bodied and unoaked, with firm acidity and more texture than its weight suggests. Made for shellfish and pesto, which is exactly what the coast beside it produces.

Where it comes from

Liguria, Italy

Liguria — A thin, mountainous arc along Italy's northwest coast — the Italian Riviera — Liguria makes small quantities of distinctive wine on steep terraces above the sea.

Vermentino

Vermentino is a white grape of the Mediterranean coast, closely identified with Italy's Liguria and the island of Sardinia, and known in southern France as Rolle.
