Tasting profile

Structure: light-bodied, high acidity, sweet

A classic fruity-sweet Spätlese from K.H. Schneider in Bad Sobernheim, grown on the steep Domberg in the upper Nahe, a site of slate and quartz. Around 70 g/l of residual sugar is balanced by lively acidity at only about 8.5% alcohol, so it tastes juicy rather than heavy: white peach, green apple and lime with flinty, waxy mineral notes. Lovely as an aperitif or with spicy food, and it gains honeyed depth with bottle age.
