La Haute Cuvée is Hedges Family Estate's flagship, a Cabernet-based red from the family's own Red Mountain vineyards (Hedges and Magdalena). Recent vintages are all or nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon (2020 100%, 2021 with 3% Petit Verdot); earlier ones included some Merlot. Long ageing in a high share of new oak gives perfumed spice (cinnamon, cedar, clove) around laser-focused blackcurrant, black cherry and spiced plum, with coffee and cigar-box notes. Full and chewy, with firm, fine tannins built for long cellaring.
