Fulcrum's MADMAN is a Sonoma County red built from six grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Malbec, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, aged 21 months in French and American oak (14.6% alcohol, about 1,500 cases). Deep purple, with black cherry, cassis and red liquorice over anise, cedar, graphite and a caramel note from the oak. Full-bodied and ripe, with bright acidity and fine-grained tannins; made for generous drinking in its first several years rather than long cellaring.
