Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry
Dolcetto is Piedmont's everyday red, the one growers drank while waiting for their Nebbiolo; the name, "little sweet one", refers to how easily it ripens, not to the wine, which is bone dry. Franco Serra's Dolcetto d'Alba is deep purple with blackberry and dark plum, violets and the variety's bitter-almond twist on the finish, medium-bodied with soft tannins: rounder and less sharp than Barbera. Made to be drunk young, and it takes a light chill in warm weather.
