Halenberg Riesling GG

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, low tannin, high acidity, dry

Emrich-Schönleber's Grosses Gewächs from the Halenberg, a steep blue-slate and quartzite slope above Monzingen in the Nahe. This is the estate's most mineral, tightly wound dry Riesling: stone fruit and citrus over a smoky, slatey core, with racy acidity and a long, saline finish. Young it is taut and reserved. It needs several years in bottle to open up, and it ages for well over a decade.
