Maury Grenat — a vin doux naturel, not a dry red: Grenache Noir fermented then fortified with neutral spirit to arrest fermentation, leaving natural grape sugar and around 16% alcohol. "Grenat" is the young, non-oxidative style, bottled early and protected from air to keep the fruit vivid, where the Tuilé and Hors d'Age styles are deliberately aged and oxidative. Fresh blackberry and kirsch over cocoa, garrigue and warm spice, sweet and rich but carried on the schist minerality of Maury. The Roussillon's answer to a young vintage port.
