Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium acidity, sweet

A vintage-dated Moscatel Roxo de Setúbal from Casa Ermelinda Freitas, made from the rare pink-skinned Moscatel Roxo grown on the sandy soils of the Setúbal Peninsula. Fortified to stop fermentation and keep the grape's sweetness, then aged for years in old oak, it turns amber-tawny and shows orange and tangerine peel, caramel, honey and nougat with a balsamic, resinous edge. Rich and silky, with enough freshness to keep the sweetness lively and a long marmalade finish. Serve lightly chilled with desserts, blue cheese or foie gras.
