Chimera is Sean Capiaux's multi-vineyard Pinot Noir, made every year since 2001 and drawn mostly from Russian River Valley sites such as Goff, Starscape, Appian and Widdoes, with a small share from Santa Lucia Highlands. It is made with native yeast, a little whole cluster, and malolactic and lees ageing in barrel, and it is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Expect juicy dark red fruit, pomegranate and blood orange with rose petal, lavender and sweet spice. The palate is medium-bodied, with bright acidity and supple tannins. A generous, food-friendly Pinot that drinks well young and keeps for several years.
