Burkes Hill Single Site Eden Valley Riesling

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, high acidity, dry

Eden Valley is the Barossa's high country — cooler, wetter and several hundred metres above the valley floor — and it produces what many consider Australia's finest Riesling. Bone dry, with lime, green apple and white flowers over a hard, slatey minerality and a searing acid line. Medium-bodied and taut, unoaked, with no residual sugar to soften it. Single-site fruit gives more concentration than the regional blends. Young it is all citrus and steel; with a decade it develops the honeyed, faintly kerosene-scented depth that makes Australian Riesling worth cellaring.
