The estate calls this the sister wine to their flagship Shiraz, and it is a Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blend rather than a Shiraz — luscious and textural, with all the house character in a Bordeaux frame. Wild berries and cassis over malt extract, graphite and an amaro-herb bitterness that keeps the richness in check. Fully de-stemmed, open-fermented, hand plunged and basket pressed into French and American barriques, hogsheads and puncheons, forty percent new. Full-bodied and driven, with fine tannin and well-integrated oak.
