Geheimrat J

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, high acidity, dry

Geheimrat J is Wegeler's flagship dry Rheingau Riesling, named after Geheimrat Julius Wegeler and drawn from the estate's best sites around Oestrich-Winkel. Labelled Spätlese trocken in many vintages, it is a fully dry, ripe-picked Riesling: yellow apple, apricot and quince with orange blossom, lime zest and a stony finish, medium-bodied, with the Rheingau's firm, lively acidity. It is built to age, and bottle age brings honeyed, toasty and petrol notes while the wine stays taut.

Serving: Serve at 9–11 °C.
