Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

Tokara's Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the estate's vineyards high on the Simonsberg slopes above Stellenbosch, hand-harvested from its best sites and matured in French oak, with a few percent of Petit Verdot and Malbec in some vintages. Blackcurrant and cassis lead, followed by dark cherry and plum, with cedar, graphite and tobacco emerging with time. It is medium- to full-bodied with a firm but refined tannin structure that rewards several years in bottle; the 2021 was a Decanter World Wine Awards Best in Show.
