Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry
Kalkstein is the village-level Spätburgunder of Weingut Thörle, the organically farmed estate run by brothers Christoph and Johannes Thörle in Saulheim, Rheinhessen. As the name says, it comes from the village's limestone soils and is aged in barrique. Wild strawberry and morello cherry meet violet and gentle spice, with a slender, fresh palate, fine tannins and a delicately chalky finish. An elegant German Pinot Noir for duck, game and mushroom dishes.
Serving: Serve at 15–17 °C.
