Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

Seghesio's Old Vine Zinfandel comes from the family's oldest Sonoma County vineyards, many of them head-trained field blends planted generations ago. That is why the blend is mostly Zinfandel with the traditional field-blend partners, chiefly Petite Sirah plus a little Carignane and Alicante Bouschet (the 2021 is 87/10/2/1). Old vines give it more depth and restraint than the house's regular Sonoma Zinfandel. Expect bold, spicy, briary wild-berry fruit with mocha and black licorice, a rich but lively palate, and firm tannins that let it age for about a decade from vintage.
