Domaine Roux Père & Fils, a Saint-Aubin family estate since 1885, makes this red premier cru from old Pinot Noir vines on east-southeast-facing clay-limestone soils of the Sur le Sentier du Clou climat, aged 15 to 18 months in barrel with very little new oak. Expect red cherry, raspberry and redcurrant with a floral lift and gentle spice, turning toward forest floor with age; medium-bodied, with fine tannins and fresh Côte de Beaune acidity. Small, concentrated berries give it more depth and staying power than its village name suggests.
