Pyramid Valley is a North Canterbury estate — Mike and Claudia Weersing planted the biodynamic home vineyard at Waikari in 2000 — which added the Central Otago site at Manata in 2018, and this is the Otago fruit. The house style is the same either way: site-led, savoury and restrained rather than ripe and extracted. Expect perfumed dark cherry and red plum over dried herbs and forest floor, fine-grained tannin and the taut acidity Otago's diurnal swing preserves. A Pinot built for the table and for keeping, not for immediate impact.
