Roussanne is a rarity in Chile, and the Maule Valley — the country's oldest and coolest large growing region, with real Andean diurnal swing — gives it a shape closer to the northern Rhône than to warm-climate white. Ripe pear and quince over honeysuckle, herbal tea and a waxy, almost oily texture, full-bodied with medium acidity and a nutty, faintly bitter finish. A white of weight and texture rather than aromatic lift, and one that wants food rather than an aperitif glass.
