Battle Axe Sparkling Shiraz

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

A non-vintage traditional-method sparkling red from Ben Riggs's Mr. Riggs Wine Company in McLaren Vale. The base is mature-vine McLaren Vale Shiraz with a small batch of old Grenache, finished with a little fortified vintage Shiraz from his Piebald Vineyard, and it spends at least nine months on its lees. Ripe blackberry and licorice with dark chocolate and vanilla oak, a creamy mousse and a finish that is fairly dry. Serve lightly chilled.
