A varietal Cabernet Sauvignon from Mountain Brook Vineyards, a small family winery in the Tryon foothills of western North Carolina whose Mountain Brook label is reserved for North Carolina-grown, hand-harvested fruit. Expect a dry, medium-bodied red with blackcurrant and dark cherry, cedar and a herbal, bell-pepper note typical of Cabernet from the warm, humid Southeast, framed by moderate tannins. Made for drinking over its first several years alongside grilled and braised red meats.
