Moscato Giallo — Goldmuskateller in the local German — is Alto Adige's aromatic curiosity, and unlike most Muscat it is usually vinified bone dry here. Intensely perfumed with orange blossom, elderflower, ripe peach and a distinct note of sage or garden herb, yet the palate is crisp and unsweetened, which catches people out: the nose promises sweetness the mouth does not deliver. Medium-bodied with high acidity and a faintly bitter, grapey finish.
