King Estate sits on a thousand-acre property in the southern Willamette Valley with around 470 acres under vine — organic since 2002 and fully Demeter Biodynamic certified since 2016, making it the largest biodynamic vineyard operation in North America. This is their flagship Pinot Noir, blending estate fruit with parcels from like-minded growers across the valley. Whole clusters are destemmed and cold-soaked for two days, with some bunches left intact in selected lots, then fermented in open-top stainless steel with daily punch-downs and up to 8% of the juice bled off to concentrate what remains. Ten months in French oak, a quarter of it new. Around 13.5%. Sleek, subtle and savoury: black raspberry and dark cherry with strawberry, black tea and an earthy undertone, lifted by vivid citrus acidity, with supple tannins and a fresh finish. Serve at 14 to 16°C with duck, salmon or mushrooms.
