Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, medium acidity, off-dry
Gewürztraminer takes its name from Tramin — Termeno in Italian — the village on Lake Caldaro that claims the variety's origin, so Alto Adige has a fair case to being its homeland. The grape at full volume: lychee, rose petal and candied ginger over a broad, oily texture, with the low acidity that defines it and often a whisper of residual sugar rounding the finish. Full-bodied and unmistakable. Alto Adige's altitude gives it a little more lift than Alsace usually manages, but subtlety is not what this variety is for.
