Geoff Hardy is a sixth-generation member of the Hardy winemaking family and runs several South Australian labels — K1 at Kuitpo in the Adelaide Hills, GMH on the Limestone Coast, Pertaringa in McLaren Vale — with "Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy" as the range drawing across them. This sparkling takes its name from its colour, a pink-to-salmon hue, and is made from Pinot Noir with Chardonnay. It is cleverly constructed: a low pH with a hit of residual sugar that provides contrast rather than sweetness. Citrus and wild strawberry on the nose, then creamy strawberry and candied red apple, with citrus acidity cutting the richer notes at the close. Light at 11% and built for immediate pleasure rather than the cellar.
