Virginie de Valandraud

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

Virginie de Valandraud is the second wine of Château Valandraud, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud's Saint-Émilion estate that began as the original "garage wine", named after the couple's daughter. Merlot-led with Cabernet Franc, it follows the house style in a more approachable frame: ripe black cherry, plum and blackberry with mocha, vanilla and licorice from new oak, plush and fleshy on rounded tannins. Earlier to drink than the grand vin, with the depth for a decade or more in good years.

Serving: Serve at 16–18 °C.
