Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

Château Marjosse is Pierre Lurton's own estate in the Entre-Deux-Mers. Lurton also runs Cheval Blanc and Yquem. The vineyard sits on clay and asteria limestone close in character to Saint-Émilion's plateau, and the red is bottled as AOC Bordeaux. The wine is about 80% Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a dash of old-vine Malbec, and shows plum, black cherry and blackcurrant with graphite, cedar and gentle spice over supple tannin. It is a polished, good-value claret made to drink within its first several years.
