This Grüner Veltliner comes from Vincent Bründlmayer's own old-vine parcel in the Ried Spiegel at Langenlois, a Kamptal Erste Lage (1ÖTW) on deep, calcareous loess. He took the plot over from his family in 2010 and first bottled it in 2011. It is whole-cluster pressed and fermented on full lees in large Austrian and smaller French oak casks. The result is powerful yet cool and elegant: mirabelle plum, yellow peach and exotic fruit with white pepper, tobacco spice and blossom honey, a creamy texture, vibrant acidity and extract sweetness. Built to age a decade and more.
