Fransola comes from a single high vineyard in the Alt Penedès, cool enough that Torres planted Sauvignon Blanc there and kept a minority of the local Parellada for lift. Fermentation and ageing in French oak give it a hazelnut and toast frame that the variety's gooseberry and elderflower push straight through — this is closer to a white Graves than to a steel-fermented Loire Sauvignon. Dry, medium-bodied and firmly acidic, with a stony finish; one of the few Spanish whites of this style built to gain from a few years in bottle.
