Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, medium acidity, dry
Bellingham's Old Vine Chenin Blanc, from The Bernard Series named after founder Bernard Podlashuk, is made from dry-farmed bush vines of 35 to 47 years across the Coastal Region, on shale and granite. Barrel-fermented and rested on its lees with regular bâtonnage, it is a rich, textured Cape Chenin: lemon curd, green apple and peach over hazelnut and pastry notes, with enough acidity to keep the weight in check. Critics rate recent vintages around 90–91 points, and it gains complexity with a few years in bottle.
Serving: Serve at 10–12 °C.
