Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry
First made in 1979, Quinta da Bacalhôa is one of Portugal's pioneering Bordeaux-style reds: about 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot from sandy-loam vineyards at Azeitão on the Setúbal Peninsula, aged around 14 months in new French oak. Ripe blackcurrant and plum with cedar, vanilla and sweet spice; full and supple, with soft, rounded tannin and a savoury, tobacco-tinged finish as it ages.
