Villány

**Villány** is Hungary's most famous red-wine region, lying in the warm far south of the country near the Croatian border. It has a long winemaking history and a reputation for full-bodied, structured reds. **Wines & grapes** — The focus is firmly on red wine. Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot do well, alongside local grapes including Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) and Portugieser.
