Marzemino

**Marzemino** is a red grape of northern Italy, most at home in Trentino, and famous enough to earn a mention in Mozart's Don Giovanni; it makes bright, approachable reds beloved in its home valleys. **In the glass** — deep ruby, with fragrant aromas of red plum, violet and dark cherry; light to medium bodied with soft tannins and fresh acidity. **Where it grows** — Trentino above all, with pockets in Lombardy and the Veneto; the style is generally easygoing and fruit-forward. **At the table** — cured meats, pasta with tomato sauce, and roast pork. **Cellaring** — best enjoyed young while its vivid fruit is at its brightest.
