From four hectares of vines planted in the early 1970s on the Montecarotto hillside, Umani Ronchi's Vecchie Vigne is aged first in concrete on its native yeasts, then in bottle, before release — giving it unusual fullness for Verdicchio. Chamomile, pear and wild mint give way with age to hazelnut and a long, savoury finish. One of the appellation's most age-worthy bottlings.
