Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

Saltram's No.1 is the Angaston winery's flagship Barossa Shiraz, a selection of the best old-vine parcels matured in French and American oak. It is a full, generous wine: dark cherry, blackberry and plum with dark chocolate, anise and a savoury black-olive edge, held by firm, grippy tannins. Young bottles are dense and oak-framed; with five to ten years the tannins soften and the wine gains spice and complexity, and good vintages hold for two decades.
