Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry
Saint-Émilion — the Right Bank's most famous appellation, where Merlot leads with Cabernet Franc on limestone and clay rather than the Left Bank's gravel. That soil is why the wines come out plusher and rounder than the Médoc: dark plum and black cherry with cocoa, a leafy graphite lift from the Cabernet Franc and a savoury, faintly earthy finish. Medium-bodied with soft, well-covered tannin. Approachable earlier than Left Bank claret, and comfortable through its first decade.
