Clos du Roi

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry

Clos du Roi is one of the best premier crus on the slopes above Beaune, at the northern end towards Savigny, and Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard brings its Savigny spice to it. Black cherry and plum with violet, spice and an earthy depth, more power than most Beaune thanks to a structure reminiscent of the Corton hill. Ages well for a decade.
