Penola Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, medium tannin, medium acidity, dry

Hesketh's Penola Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the family's Abbey Vineyard at the southern end of Coonawarra's terra rossa strip, just north of Penola, and is matured in French barriques and hogsheads, part new. Classic Coonawarra Cabernet: pure blackcurrant with a leafy, minty edge, tobacco leaf, chocolate and spice, cedary oak in the background and fine, firm tannins. Approachable on release, with the structure to improve for a decade.
