Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, low tannin, high acidity, dry
Barbera d'Alba from Borgogno, the historic Barolo house founded in 1761. 100% Barbera from vineyards around Barolo, about two-thirds aged in stainless steel and the rest in large Slavonian oak casks for some ten months, then blended and rested in bottle. Bright and juicy in the traditional style: sour and black cherry, red plum and violet with a herbal touch and light spice, Barbera's high acidity and soft tannin. A versatile everyday red for the table.

Where it comes from
Piedmont, Italy
Piedmont (Piemonte) sits in the northwest of Italy, tucked against the Alps, and is prized for some of the country's most serious and long-lived red wines.
Barbera
Barbera is a red grape from the Piedmont region of northwest Italy, long the everyday red of the area and now taken seriously enough to rival its noble neighbour Nebbiolo in quality-minded hands.
