Shiraz from the Adelaide Hills, the cool high country east of the city, where the variety behaves quite differently from its warm South Australian neighbours. Medium-bodied and distinctly peppery: dark cherry and blackberry with cracked black pepper, violet and a savoury, almost meaty edge, carried on fine tannin and lively acidity. Closer in shape to a Northern Rhône Syrah than to a Barossa Shiraz, and considerably easier to drink through a meal.
