Duckhorn's flagship Merlot from the Three Palms Vineyard on the volcanic, rocky alluvial fan of northern Napa Valley near Calistoga. Almost pure Merlot with a dash of Malbec, aged about 18 months in French oak, a good share of it new. Dense black cherry, blackberry and plum over cocoa, cedar and a stony, graphite edge; full-bodied and polished, with ripe but firm tannin that gives it more structure and cellaring potential than most Napa Merlot.
