Féchy

Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, low tannin, medium acidity, dry

The Grand Cru Féchy of Domaine du Martheray, a 15-hectare estate on the clay-limestone slopes of Féchy in the La Côte region above Lake Geneva. Chasselas with real presence: Chasselas blossom and lemongrass with white peach, a mineral, flinty line and, with age, a toasted-almond, honeyed depth. Fuller and longer than everyday Chasselas, regularly rated around 90 points by Falstaff, and the estate gives it 5 to 10 years of ageing potential. Serve at 10–12°C with lake fish, fondue or soft Swiss cheeses.
