Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry
The main cuvée of Château Lagrézette, the Renaissance château near Caillac in the Lot valley owned by Alain-Dominique Perrin. It is built on Malbec (Côt), the black grape of Cahors, and raised for about eighteen months in new oak barrels. Expect a dark, full-bodied wine: blackberry, cassis and plum with violet and liquorice, coffee and toast from the oak, and firm, fine tannins. As it ages, leather and earthy notes take over. It needs a few years to soften and keeps for a decade or more.
