Carbonnieux is one of the Graves classed growths ranked for white as well as red, and its white is the estate's calling card. Sauvignon Blanc with Sémillon, barrel-fermented and aged on lees: grapefruit and lemon with white peach, a smoky, flinty minerality from the Léognan gravel, and a nutty, waxy texture the Sémillon supplies. Medium-bodied with firm acidity and real length. Unlike most Sauvignon-based whites it is built to age — it tightens for a few years, then opens into honey and toast over a decade or more.
