Tasting profile
Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry
The grand vin of Château Branaire-Ducru, a Fourth Growth of the 1855 classification in Saint-Julien, from a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot. It is one of the more perfumed and polished Saint-Juliens: blackcurrant and dark plum with cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf and violet, firm fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury finish. Good vintages need eight to ten years to open and drink well for two decades or more.
