Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium acidity, dry

A white Rioja from Bodegas Valdelana in Elciego, the Rioja Alavesa house with the most certified Viñedos Singulares in the appellation. It blends the old field varieties of those singular vineyards, planted between 1920 and 1940 (Viura, Malvasía, Garnacha Blanca, Maturana Blanca and Calagraño), and is partly made by the traditional Alavesa carbonic-maceration method. Intense lemon-yellow, with peach and stone fruit, white flowers and a flinty, pumice-stone minerality over a gentle almond finish. Old-vine substance gives it more depth and ageing potential than everyday white Rioja.

Serving: Serve at 9–11 °C.
