The Cerdán siblings are the fourth generation at this family estate in Fuente-Álamo, in the high Albacete corner of Jumilla, and Rabia is their argument that the zone deserves more than its bulk-wine reputation — the name refers to their anger at rural depopulation and the loss of old vineyards. It comes from a single Petit Verdot plot at La Muela, planted in 1989 on rocky limestone at around 900 metres, farmed organically and biodynamically. Wild-yeast fermentation in old wooden vats, fourteen to sixteen months in French foudre and 500-litre barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Unusually fresh and light-footed for the variety in a warm climate: black cherry and red plum with Mediterranean scrub herbs, a smoky mineral edge, and silky texture carried by real acidity.
