Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry
Bicknell f.c. is David Bicknell's own small label, made alongside his day job as chief winemaker at Oakridge, and the Syrah is a cool-climate Yarra Valley reading of the grape rather than a warm-climate one. Medium-bodied and perfumed, with blackberry and red plum lifted by violet, white pepper and a savoury, smoked-meat edge. Fine-grained tannin and bright acidity keep it taut; whole-bunch character shows as spice rather than weight.
Serving: Serve at 15–17 °C.
