Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, low tannin, medium acidity, dry

Iconti Bianco is a Ticino DOC white blend from Tamborini (Lamone), made by winemaker Luca Biffi. In the 2022 it is about half Chardonnay, with Johanniter and Viognier, aged around eight months in barrique. It is a rich, rounded white: ripe pear, apricot and citrus with a floral lift from the Viognier, framed by vanilla and toasted hazelnut from the oak. Falstaff scored the 2022 91 points.

Where it comes from

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is a white grape from Burgundy that has spread to nearly every wine-growing region on earth, prized for its versatility and its ability to reflect both terroir and the winemaker's hand.

Johanniter

Johanniter is a white grape and a modern disease-resistant (PIWI) hybrid bred in Germany, developed from Riesling and other varieties to combine quality with resilience in the vineyard.

Viognier

Viognier is a white grape from the northern Rhône Valley in France, long the signature of the tiny appellation Condrieu and a variety that came close to disappearing before a revival spread it far beyond its Rhône home.
