Tasting profile
Structure: light-bodied, high acidity, dry
Heroldrebe is a German crossing of Portugieser and Blaufränkisch bred in the 1920s, thin-skinned and pale, which makes it a natural rosé grape. Pale salmon in colour, with sour cherry and redcurrant over a herbal edge and the brisk acidity Rheinhessen gives. Dry and light-bodied rather than fruity-sweet, and built on freshness alone — there is no structure underneath intended to carry it beyond its first few summers.
